OUR WANDSWORTH DAY OPPORTUNITIES SERVICE

OUr Wandsworth DAy Opportunities Service

What do we do

Our building based services are for people with a range of complex and often multiple support needs and are in a number of venues across Wandsworth.

The service provides a range of one to one and group based activities to people with diverse personalities, interests and skills. As with all Balance services we work hard to maintain a person centred approach. Interventions and activities are built around the specific strengths, preferences and personal priorities of those using the service. With families and carers a key part of the support circle we also recognise the role that they have in shaping the way we design and build our support.

Our day time offer

At each of our operating sites we aim to provide a range of support that reflect the diverse interests of those accessing our services, ensure a visible community presence, opportunities for physical and emotional enrichment, as well as just hanging out with friends.

Activities include:

  • Bowling
  • Swimming
  • Gardening and horticulture
  • Arts and crafts
  • Sensory stimulation
  • Small group cooking,
  • Swimming
  • Music and Dance

As we begin to build on the current offer, and increase our direction based on the knowledge and experience of those using our services please keep an eye on these pages as well as our social media channels.

Who can attend

Places are available on the following basis:

  • Placed via a referral from your social worker - a care assessment will be completed by social workers in your local authority who then may opt to purchase a service direct from us if that decision is supported by you. Though the availability of this option may vary depending on the way a local authority contracts is services from us.

  • Purchased through the use of a direct payment - you may have elected to receive a direct payment from you local authority following a care assessment. If this is the case you may speak to us directly about purchasing a service from us.

  • Purchasing your support privately - we are also happy to talk to you about purchasing support hours on a privately funded basis. This may be because you want regular additional time that is not being funded by your local authority, some occasional respite and/or one to one hours in excess of your contractual agreement.

Prices

Pricing will vary depending on the kind of service and the amount of time you are requesting. Please contact us at the information set out below to find out more.
